TESTIMONIALS

“Magical oasis nestled in San Diego's beautiful Balboa Park”

Fantastic, clean, spacious, well-appointed, quiet, romantic and very relaxing studio suites inn located on Granada street in SD, CA. Room had wonderful balcony that overlooked Balboa Park where we had great breakfasts, afternoon drinks and restful soirees. Well appointed, quiet, clean and in very nice South Park neighborhood with Grant's gourmet market and new hip restaurants, bars in walking distance. Highly recommend it.

“Hidden Gem!”

Whenever I go to San Diego I stay at this wonderful Guest House. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood abutting Balboa Park, the setting is very relaxing.

Each suite has a full kitchen and living area as well as private bedroom area.

This place is my " home away from home "-it used to be my little secret-but now the word is getting out, so book early-especially in the summer months.

FANTABULOUS!!!

“Best place in San Diego”

We stayed at the Casa Granada, Jardin Suite from July 4-6. We loved it. The interior is beautifully decorated, clean, spacious, much more then your typical hotel room. The Southpark section (which this is in) of San Diego is a wonderful area. It makes you feel like you're at home. Casa Granada is within 10-15 min. drive time to most area attractions. Mark, the owner, is very helpful and goes out of his way to make your experience a good one. He thinks of everything. There were street maps, things to do in San Diego magazines and his own personal recommendations of where to go to eat. We would recommend Casa Granada highly. We will definitely return. Before you book your next San Diego hotel, check this one out. You get more for your money.

“Lovely Home on the Road”

After spending 11 days at Casa Granada I have to say that it is one of the best inns in which I have ever had the pleasure of staying.

I enjoyed both the Classico and Rojo suites and they were both exceptional places to stay. Both are extremely well decorated with nice furniture (antique and art-deco in the Classico and more modern pieces in the Rojo), comfortable beds and many nice decorative pieces. The atmosphere certainly makes you feel like you are at home, not away.

These two suites also have full kitchens with nice appliances, matching dishes (different in both these suites) and all the utensils one needs to cook in (which I did for all my meals). The Rojo also has a nice, private deck with very nice furniture that looks out on a wooded area. The bathrooms are very nice. Effort has been made to preserve the character of this older residence while still providing every modern convenience.

I would love to stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone.

“Great place”

We stayed here twice in a two week period, the first weekend in the El Classico suite, the second weekend in the Jardin suite. These are not typical B&Bs, as no one feeds you breakfast, but we loved them anyway. It was close to the park (but the main part of the park like the zoo or the museums was not an easy walk because of the roads and how the park is laid out). We found it very central to all the places we wanted to go - Hillcrest was only a few miles, there were some coffee shops within walking distance, as well as at least a couple places to eat, and Gaslamp was just two or three miles away.

It's very clean, beautifully decorated, and well kept. The Classico does not have the wonderful deck that the other two have, but it does have an old, but functional stove, so I could cook breakfast. The Jardin had the most gorgeous deck, but no stove (a toaster oven and microwave). I did manage to make an omelet anyway, but would have preferred a stove as i had the first weekend. The wireless worked flawlessly in both suites. The owner was very nice and helpful over the phone, and went to lengths to include a nicely put together packet of information about the area including a small map.

“A most wonderful place”

My husband and I were in charge of finding a place to stay with two other couples who we were meeting in San Diego. When we stumbled on to Casa Granada and contacted Mark, we were hoping all would be as we had planned. Let me tell you, Casa Granada was more than we expected! We rented the whole house and enjoyed all of it. We especially loved relaxing on the deck and enjoying the neighborhood. Mark checked in on us and made sure all was well, otherwise, the 6 of us felt right at home.
We even enjoyed a morning of walking the nieghborhood and looking at homes and flowers. When we had to leave Casa Granada for the Hotel Del Coronado, we were all disappointed and wished we could go back to the Casa Granada.
It goes without saying that my husband and I are in charge of accomadations next year. Unfortunately it won't be San Diego, CA because I know where we would stay. Thanks Mark for offering such a wonderful place to stay.

“Casa Granada, a wonderful gem!”

From the moment we stepped into the Jardin suite, we were AMAZED! I had seen photos, but they just didn't do it justice!
This suite is maybe 300 square feet short of the size of our home! It has a large bedroom area with lots of space for your clothing and accoutrements and a large King-sized bed. Now I am extremely finicky about my sleeping arangements, we have a large fantastic King bed at home with memory foam, down comforter, great pillows...and I always feel let down when I go on vacation and sleeping just doesn;t compare to home. I even told my wife before we got here that I hoped I wouldn't have to go out and buy a pillow. Well, I didn't! The bed was as close to home as I have ever seen on a vacation.
The suite also boasts a gorgeous bathroom with a dual head, dual temperature controlled shower, a spacious walk-in closet (which is also rare in vacation accomodations), a seperate living room, a gorgeous deck nestled just behind a nice little park. It's so quiet and homey, I was just ecstatic with everything.
I never knew the Hillcrest/South Park area from living here before but I also get the feeling that this is an area of resurgence that may not have been what it is now back when I was living here 12 years ago.
There is easy access to Balboa Park, downtown, and Hillcrest has so many fantastic restaurants!
My only lament is that I forogt my camera cord and can't upload any photos. I'll work on that when I get home.
Overall on a scale of 1 to 10, I give Casa Granada a 10.5, I just feel like we ended up hoping for a lot and our expectations were exceeded by quite a bit.
